Only Try

Advocacy has never come easy for me. I don’t like to be the squeaky wheel. My ability to see another’s perspective and another’s need gets in the way of pushing the needs of my children forward. But I try in the ways I am able to use the words my children don’t have to get what they certainly need.

Try. It’s a courageous word, despite what Yoda thinks. Try gets us out there. Try keeps us moving. Try is accessible.

Try

is not

do or

do not.

It is

sometimes

simply all

there is

to do.

Emma was given three days of support this week in a program that might not be the most suitable for her. But because this is the option available all parties are inclined to give it a try. Emma will take the lead here, since it will be on the strength of her ability to navigate and negotiate that things will settle or not. I’m hoping they settle or provide a pathway through to the next available option.
