I consider myself a Birder even though I don’t often have the pleasure of experiencing rare sitings or uncommon birds. I have grown fond of the common bird, always happy to appear for my enjoyment. Among these is the American Robin. I’m thrilled however when something uncommon happens with these common observations…
On an ordinary walk
two birds sported so close
I felt the brush and blur
of wings and pivoting around
I watched as common Robins –
a dozen or more! gathered
in uncommon choreography,
fairy-like, on the lawn hopping
and bowing, red vested old
to speckled young, right there
in front of plain old me.© 2016 – Laurel Archer
