Maybe it’s because you’re paying attention. Maybe it’s because you’re suppose to pay attention. Every once in a while you just happen to be in the right place at the right time. There’s a word for this — ‘serendipity’ — the faculty of making fortunate discoveries by accident. When these things happen you can’t claim you went to a certain place in that particular moment to view that particular thing and yet, there you were and there it was.
That’s what the following pictures reflect — a serendipitous moment at White Rock beach. This lady strolled out to the edge of the waning tide with three heart shaped balloons. It was a perfectly calm day and as she released the balloons they rose slowly up and she watched each until it was out of sight. What that moment was for her I do not know, but her careful deliberate observance opened for us a careful and deliberate witnessing. This solitary and yet very public action was kept private and yet rippled out to us (thank you for pointing that out Denice). Living life quietly but meaningfully does indeed have an impact.
