Moon Rise

I like the way a poem can capture a moment and fix it in my heart and head just because I’ve spent some time working out words to frame it in.  Even something that doesn’t reach the category of spectacular, can stir up my gratitude and joy. Hoping you’re finding joy in whatever your day brings you.

This Moon

Looking out the back window,
I could see, when I stood on tip toes,
the moon at full aperture hanging
just over the top of the house next door.

It’s not a perspective you’d find
in National Geographic. That moon
would blaze like a spotlight on peaks
named Black Tusk or Chief or shimmer
across still waters on Garibaldi Lake.

But this moon shone steady
over an ordinary life
and just as generously.

  1. Ahhh, I’m resting in these words, “But this moon shone steady over an ordinary life” for they truly help me to sink into an element of contentedness in the everyday.
